Continuum

Dream and wake intermingle

speaking to each other in code

                                                            running alongside one another

stealing glances and data they thought their own

indistinguishable

Real and imagined lives

colliding and careening

                                                            floating unmoored

sometimes tumbling and talking past each other

indecipherable

It is in this state I navigate the day

bumping into amorphous moments

half remembering part encountering

                                                            familiar strange and foreign

While the negatives

of my Russian and Rumanian ancestors fade

unrecognizable
